Community Health Assessment Overview
The Community Health Assessment (CHA) is a detailed report created by the Knox County Health Department (KCHD) every five years. The CHA offers a look at the state of health in Knox County and includes data from surveys, key informant interviews and focus groups. KCHD conducted its first Community Health Assessment in 2010, and the third Community Health Assessment was released in 2020. The Abridged 2023 Community Health Assessment was released in early 2024. These reports can be found on KCHD’s website here.
The assessment is used by a variety of groups, including medical providers, nonprofit organizations, and hospitals. In addition, this report serves as the basis for the Community Health Council's health improvement plan, which lists priority health issues for Knox County, as well as how best to address them as a community.
