Pima County Invites Feedback on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Plan outlines a 20-year vision for parks, facilities, and recreation opportunities across Pima County

Pima County Parks and Recreation has released the draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan, a 20-year vision designed to guide future reinvestment, expansion, and sustainability across the county’s parks, facilities, and programs. The Plan builds on extensive research, benchmarking, and community engagement conducted over the past 18 months.

The Master Plan reflects feedback from thousands of residents who shared their ideas through surveys, focus groups, community meetings, and outreach events across Pima County. Common priorities include updating existing parks and facilities, expanding aquatics and community events, adding walking loops, dog parks, and playgrounds, and improving access to sports fields and recreation opportunities.

The Plan is organized around six priorities that emphasize operational excellence, access, sustainability, and equity:

  • Strengthen organizational capacity
  • Expand access and equity
  • Maintain existing assets
  • Broaden recreation access and programs
  • Enhance partnerships and communication
  • Advance sustainability and resilience

Pima County invites residents to review the draft Plan and share feedback through a short online survey, open November 3 through November 14. Community feedback will help refine the Plan before it is presented to the Board of Supervisors for final adoption on December 16, 2025.
