County of Santa Clara is conducting a review of the County’s current permitting regulations and processes. This project will involve a review and evaluation of the County’s current business practices and policies, identify recommendations for improvement, and solicit feedback from the development community.

As part of the evaluation process, the County is requesting feedback from the development community. If you are a contractor, developer, architect, engineer, property owner, property manager, or have another role in the development process, you are encouraged to provide feedback on your experiences. Your input will help guide improvements toward a more efficient and customer-friendly process. Thank you for participating!

Project Phases and Timeline

  • Timeline item 1 - active

    Phase 1: Assessment of Current Policies and Practices

    November 2024 - March 2025

    During this phase, the County will be soliciting input from the development community and working with the consultant team to evaluate current policies, procedures, and technology use.

  • Timeline item 2 - incomplete

    Phase 2: Findings and Recommendations for Improvement

    February - August 2025

    During this phase, the consultant team will review feedback, analyze data from peer communities, and assess policies, processes, and staffing. This data will inform a recommendations for improvement report, which will include actionable steps for the County to take to improve the overall permitting process.

    Stage 3: Implementation

    August - December 2025

    Using the roadmap developed in Phase 2, the County and consultant team will work to update policies and procedures and provide training to support staff in implementing these policies and procedures.
